Country Lane Quilter’s Guild began in 1989 offering members classes, work days, retreats, plus support and camaraderie.

Since 2004, the Country Lane Quilter’s Guild has contributed handcrafted quilts to the Children’s Hospital Mental Health Cuddle Quilt Program. To date, our guild has produced over 1,500 quilts for hospitalized children aged 3 to 14. These quilts, created with care and skill by our quilt members, allow each child to select a personal quilt for comfort during their stay and to bring home, providing reassurance and emotional support.

The quilts are a welcome comfort for recipients, as voiced by some of the recipients.

“Your thoughtful gift keeps me warm and snug when I’m all alone in the hospital at night. Thank you, so very much” wrote one child.

“My quilt makes me feel a little happier when I see it to know someone cares about people like me. I am so grateful that there are people like you in this world who would take the time to make a quilt for someone they never even met to raise their spirits.”

“Feeling un-special is always the worst, but this quilt will be my stronghold. When I’m feeling hopeless, I can say: A random stranger, cares, so I must matter, right?”

“I love the quilt. It makes me feel strong inside.”

Another focus of our guild is creating comfort quilts for community members to comfort them in times of need, thus sustaining the tradition of quilting while supporting the broader community.

We meet the first Saturday of each month from Sept to June at the Millarville Christ Church House at 9:30 and visitors and new members are welcome.
