XC Bragg Creek – Dec 2025

XC BRAGG CREEK SKI AND BIKE SOCIETY

Despite the lack of snow XCBC’s Competitive Nordic Season is in full swing. We got off to an awesome start with our first Weekend Camp in early November and our athletes are continuing to develop and hone their skills on and off the snow. These Athletes will be competing at the Alberta Cup 1 & 2 in Canmore on December 20 and we wish them the best of luck!

From Coach Joni:
A big shout-out to our athletes who took on the Grizzly Ultra Marathon and Relay in Canmore this past weekend! Despite fresh snow, cold temperatures, and constantly changing trail conditions, our athletes showed incredible grit and teamwork as they covered 49.6 km of mountain trails.

Owen K. raced solo and earned an impressive 4th place finish, while our relay team – Evelyn P., Logan R., Micah S., Bruce M., and Jordan M. – also brought home a strong 4th place.

We are so proud of these athletes for their perseverance, sportsmanship, and determination.

Our Non-Competitve Nordic Program is going to be starting at the beginning of December.
XCBC’s Bunnies and Jackrabbits programs promote the fundamental development of ski skills in a fun-filled environment. The objective is for children to learn basic cross- country ski skills and to foster a lifelong interest in the sport, thereby enhancing their quality of life and health.

We are also immensely excited to be re- introducing our Rec Ski Program! This program is for skiers who have either finished Jackrabbits and love being outside, skiing with friends, and want to continue developing their skills in a fun and social environment, or skiers who are new to the sport, and want to develop their skills but are outside the Jackrabbits age limits.

There will be instruction, with emphasis on technique but the Rec Ski Program’s goal is to build proficient lifelong skiers who love the sport.

Planning for XCBC’s Biggest annual event is underway. We will be hosting the Alberta Youth Championships in West Bragg Creek on March 7th & 8th.

This is the premiere event for youth skiers, providing an opportunity for them to stay in camp over the weekend, meet new skiers from other clubs and compete for club pride in three different ski events. AYC is often the highlight of youth skiers’ involvement in cross country skiing! We are always looking for support with this event, from sponsorship opportunities, to donations, to boots on the ground volunteers. If you are interested in supporting AYC contact programdirector@xcbraggcreek.ca to get involved.
