Hello, Diamond Valley. Well it’s Parade Day coming up Saturday June 6. This will be the 58th annual Parade Weekend with lots to see and do for the whole family. Thank you to all the sponsors and volunteers who make this weekend happen, it’s really appreciated!
The Parade starts at 10 am in Black Diamond. Check the Town’s website for the inner loop route and bring a lawn chair. Remember they close the Parade route’s roads during this time. Local businesses will be open with specials and there is usually live music scattered throughout the day. After the Parade head over to Millenium Park and the Flare and Derrick from 11–3 in Turner Valley for the Festival and Market. There will be food trucks, local specials, and entertainment for the kids. The Library generally holds its book sale on the Saturday as well. There will be a plant sale from the Diamond Valley Community Gardens as well as a BBQ and Bake Sale from 12–4 in the parking lot of the Anglican Church, and the Turner Valley Legion offers a nice place to sit and relax with the kitchen, patio, and bar open.
Head over to the Sheep Creek Arts Council on Sunset Boulevard for their annual Quilt Show and Bake Sale. They join with the Diamond Valley Quilters for this 19th annual event from 11–3 on June 4. Entry is by donation and you will find heritage, member, and charity quilts on display, with a raffle of two quilts. Funds from the raffle go toward materials for their charity quilts which go to Rowan House, Calgary Children’s Hospital, and the Veterans Association.
Also benefitting Rowan House in June is the 5th annual Swing for Change Golf Tournament on June 8. Brought to you by Western Financial Group, this tourny runs from 1:30–9 at the Turner Valley Golf Course. To register and for full details, visit rowanhouse.ca.
