Our young patrons made wooden bee bookmarks to honour World Bee Day, May 20th. World Bee Day is a global celebration to raise awareness of the critical role bees play in sustaining our ecosystem and global food supply. World Bee Day was established by the U.N. in 2017. The date honours Anton Jansa, the pioneer of modern apiculture. Bees are threatened today by urban sprawl, (loss of nesting habitat ) and poorly managed use of pesticides. There are several good books on bee keeping, should you and your family wish to take it up.
Check our bulletin board for our upcoming Summer Reading Program in July and August. Scrabble board is set up permanently in the library and has been most successful. Don’t leave without giving it a try!
