A warm congratulations to Shali Bazuk, the RVS trustee representing Chestermere! Shali was elected the Alberta School Board Association President, in Edmonton November 17th during the ASBA fall general meeting. It is a great asset for the Rocky View Schools to have such strong provincial representation, and everyone at RVS is very excited for her.
On November 27th the board went over the finalized budget for the 2024-2025 school year, it is now public if anybody else wishes to go over it, it can be found on the RVS Website.
Rocky View Enrolment has increased in the last few weeks, as of November 21st, we now have a total of 29,634 students across all RVS schools. It is likely that these numbers have increased since last reported.
All teachers across Rocky View have now submitted their Classroom Insight Survey data to the government. With this, we hope it will become a yearly activity so as to keep the government in touch with what is going on in a typical school environment.
For 2025/26, RVS will introduce the new Alberta curriculum for Grades 7–9, implement literacy and numeracy blocks in all Kindergarten– Grade 3 classrooms, prioritize career learning practices, work to address student aggression and safety, strengthen workforce recruitment and retention, and invest in reliable and secure system infrastructure at the Education Centre.
The 2024/25 AERR will be posted on the RVS website and shared with Alberta Education.
The Alberta government plans to fast track 5 schools, 4 in Edmonton and 1 in Calgary. According to the province there are presently 120 school projects underway across Alberta.
The government of Canada and Alberta have made an agreement to extend the 15$ a day childcare agreement for another year.
This means that families will be able to access that service beyond March 31st 2026.
