What does it mean to leave a legacy?
Every so often you have the privilege of meeting someone who truly leaves an impact, through the people they meet and the impression they leave with their character. This could be said for many of our volunteers over the years, who have given not only their time, but have demonstrated a special care in what they do that we should all aspire to.
In my time, which represents just a sliver in the pie of our decades long history, I have been fortunate to get to know Barry and Joyce Connatty. There is family, and the extension of that being those people who make you feel like family with their care and kindness. Barry and Joyce embody this completely.
With Joyce’s recent passing, this sentiment has only grown stronger. She was more than a volunteer, but our friend, a valuable part of what we are. As the year comes to a close, we’re reflecting on the legacy that she and others have left behind.
We are all a part of that legacy. Let’s continue to protect what matters.
