Barb Castell – Division 3
I hope you had a fantastic Summer and now it is Fall – my favourite time of the year!
Public Works
Foothills County Public Works continues to work hard to complete the 2022 projects before the snow flies. They have a huge area to cover. Residents have been contacting me to tell me how much they appreciate the work on their roads and how respectful the work crews have been. I have passed your compliments on to staff.
What is the speed limit on Foothills County roads? All roads are 80 km per hour unless otherwise posted. In Division 3, Highway 549, Highway 546, Highway 22, and Highway 762 are all Provincial and not under the County’s jurisdiction.

Foothills Cemetery Board
This Board is comprised of a Council representative from the Town of Turner Valley, the Town of Black Diamond, Foothills County; an appointed member from the Turner Valley Legion #78, and one member at large appointed by the Board from one of the three municipalities.
Over the summer, the Foothills Cemetery Board met up at the cemetery to familiarize new board members with projects that have been started as well as the work that has been completed. We were asked to come up with ideas for the completion of the remaining lands and how they might look. The Board will hopefully have a plan ready by Spring.

Priddis & Millarville Fair
The Priddis & Millarville Fair was a huge success. This is an event that is always looking for new volunteers on the committee and on Fair Day at the Millarville Racetrack. If you have not volunteered there you are missing out on two fantastic days.
I helped in the Information Booth and met so many people, but the most astonishing visitors were a mother and her daughter who had flown in all the way from Atlanta, Georgia the night before the Fair to see exactly where their favourite TV show, “Heartland”, was filmed in Foothills County. They were told to start at the Fair. The mother, in her charming Southern accent, went on to tell me they were going to be sight seeing at the Racetrack, Maggie’s in High River, and then off to Anchor D for a Horseback ride. Who would have thought people from that far away would come to our Fair!!
