Duke of Edinburgh Awards – On May 24th I had the pleasure of presenting awards at the internationally recognized Duke of Edinburgh awards ceremonies held in Springbank. There were 22 recipients that received awards in either the Gold, Silver or Bronze categories. The categories involve the self development in many areas however the 3 areas of focus were skill development, community involvement and challenging oneself to undertake something that is outside of one’s comfort zone. Cemetery Master Plan – RVC is reaching out to inform you about the upcoming community engagement opportunities related to the County’s Cemetery Master Plan update. This long-range planning document guides how cemetery lands are developed, maintained, and used, and includes a proposed expansion of the Garden of Peace Cemetery. The update ensures that cemetery services continue to meet the evolving needs of residents, and community feedback is essential in shaping this work. We encourage you to review the project details and share your feedback through the online survey at engage. rockyview.ca/cemetery-master-plan. The engagement will help the County assess current and future service needs, design a thoughtful expansion of the Garden of Peace Cemetery and ensure the Master Plan reflects the preferences, values, and traditions of our community. Following the engagement, public feedback will be analyzed and used to refine the plan. A final version will be presented to the Council later in 2025. Engagement opportunities include: Phase 1 ( June–July): a) Online Survey – Open to all residents via Your View Rocky View County b) Community Partner Survey – Sent directly to key groups and stakeholders Phase 2 (September–October): a) Open House at the Garden of Peace Cemetery – Details to be confirmed, b) Online Survey – Focused on feedback regarding draft expansion concepts.
