Sq. Butte

The annual Christmas concert at Square Butte Hall organized a fund raiser for a local family in need. Local donations were raffled off. We raised twice as much as last year and are able to help more than one family this year. Over 100 people attended. We are already looking for more performers for next year due to the growing audience!

Sq. Butte Hall is hosting a New Year’s Eve Masquerade Bash featuring the Alicyn Campbell Band. There will be $1200.00 in prizes for the best costume winners! See Square Butte Community website for details and tickets.

MRAS
The Christmas Market saw record breaking attendance this year!

This growth caused some traffic backups which will be addressed for next year. The Kids Only Shoppe donated $1800.00 to the Millarville Community School snack and lunch program. The MRAS website is being revamped, stay tuned for updates. Call 403 931 3411.

Diamond Valley
The High Country SPCA raised $4400.00 for their affordable spay and neuter clinic to be held in the spring of 2026.

Foothills County
The Ag Services Board is notifying that a research scientist position at Lethbridge Research and Development Center is vacant for a Weed Biological Control Entomologist. This research is important to help control invasive species. Contact Kathleen McHugh with Foothills County for information.

The Ag department has started a cost saving stewardship program for people who want to maintain a small Municipal Reserve by mowing. It does not apply to those MR’s being rented for livestock or crop production. Contact Kathleen McHugh with Foothills County for information.

There are still some Board and Committee vacancies to be filled. North West Rec. Board, Dunbow Rec. Board, Economic Development Advisory Committee, Foothills Cemetery Board, Rural Foothills Policing Committee and Airport Advisory Committee. Go to Foothills County website for more details.

The NW Rec Board is currently embarking on a Fundraising Campaign towards a Multi-Sport Field and Park Amenities at the Seaman Sports Park near the Millarville Race Track. For more information to donate or help us fundraise please contact NWREC@FoothillsCountyAB.ca or call 403 603 6244.

The Miistakis Institute is initiating a wildlife study in Foothills County. They require landowners permission to install trail cams for their research. Local is mostly West on HWY 7 and South on HWY 2. See more at OkotoksOnline.com.
