Our 2025 AGM gave us an opportunity to acknowledge the important contributions and accomplishments of our outgoing President, Neil MacLaine. Neil is a true eastern slopes cowboy, the original owner of Moose Mountain Adventures. Like so many of us living ‘just across the county line’ on the 762, he considers Bragg Creek to be his community and is genuinely invested in ensuring the wellbeing of business owners, entrepreneurs and professional practitioners throughout the area.
Neil was a champion behind many Chamber initiatives, expertly charting a course that would enhance and solidify our role as business-focused, community- supportive, and balanced in our approach to serving the Bragg Creek & Area business community.
- Attracting a broad range of new members, locally and from afar, to ensure a sustainable revenue stream.
- Identifying and pursuing funding opportunities in the form of Rockyview grants and NRED grants to bolster our ability to support economic progress.
- Endorsing new ‘boots on the ground’ subcommittees including Economic Development, Community Relations, Internal Relations, and Communications.
- Improving relationships with Rockyview County, Bragg Creek Community Association, Travel Alberta, and a host of supportive local and regional partners.
- Representing The Chamber at regional events and forums with grace, humour, knowledge, and a deep spirit of kindness and cooperation.
- Accepting ideas from the Board and seeking opportunities for improvement to our services and supports to our Members – from communications and member incentives to local advertising and social media campaigns.
Neil is also an advocate of regional cooperation, recognizing that small accommodations can benefit a wider community. He continues to advocate for the shared use of Rockyview County infrastructure by out-of-county residents who bundle their trips to stop for a coffee or lunch and invest in other amenities in the hamlet.
Neil always took time to talk with anyone who had a question, needed advice, or was just up for good conversation and a dose of country humour. He knew how to bring people together, creating an open forum for creativity by recognizing the value of new and different perspectives. His attitude and humble nature made everyone feel welcome and valued.
In his newfound down time, Neil can be found enjoying his ‘retirement’ property overlooking the family ranch, or out on a trail ride in the foothills when the west winds come calling with the hint of adventure.
From all of us at the Bragg Creek & Area Chamber of Commerce we want to say thank you Neil, it’s been a real adventure working alongside you! Happy Trails!
