XC Bragg Creek – Jan 2026

XC BRAGG CREEK SKI AND BIKE SOCIETY

Our Non-Competitive Nordic Programs have begun. Bunnies, Jackrabbits and Rec skiers took to the trails early this month and have been having a blast.

XCBC’s Bunnies Program is designed for the 5 year old child new to x-country skiing. The focus of this program is to ensure that children are comfortable moving on skis and having fun. Games are used to teach classic skill technique, improve balance and to incorporate fun into skiing.

Our Jackrabbits program is specially designed for 6-9 year old children. This course focuses on the fundamental skills of cross country skiing including movement on skis, downhill techniques and trail etiquette, safety, balance, agility and coordination. This is accomplished through both structured and less structured ski experiences in a positive learning environment.

Mark your calendars for next fall if you want to get involved in Bunnies or Jackrabbits. Our Non-Competitive ski programs fill up fast! You can get early access to registrations by becoming an XCBC Member here: www.xcbraggcreek.ca/membership/

Our Competitive Nordic Athletes in our Nordic Ninjas and Club Racers Programs are gearing up for their first Alberta Cup Races in Canmore for the weekend of Dec 20. We wish them the best of luck.

Alberta Youth Championships
Planning is well underway for the Alberta Youth Championships (AYC). XCBC’s big annual event will take place March 7 & 8 th in West Bragg Creek. Registration will open soon, check out our website for more info!

This is the premiere event for youth skiers, providing an opportunity for them to stay in camp over the weekend, meet new skiers from other clubs and compete for club pride in three different ski events. AYC is often the highlight of youth skiers’ involvement in cross country skiing!

Skiers will arrive at Camp on Friday night, and be bussed out to West Bragg Creek Trails Day Use Area to compete in a classic Kings Court sprint race and dress-up relay on Saturday followed by a banquet, music and guest speaker back at camp. Sunday features a wave start skate distance race and presentation of Club banners. Prizes are given for the top 10 finishers in each year of birth and every racer scores points for the Club aggregate awards We want to see as many XCBC skiers take on this challenge! Registration is open to any member of a club who is born in the years listed below. Skiers do not have to be in a competitive program, but racing experience is helpful.

Racing up is not allowed. Younger skiers will get their turn in the years to come.
