Duke of Edinburgh Award (dukeofed.org)

We have doubled our enrollment, with 22 kids now, up from 11 in 2021.

Community Spirit
  • We nearly sold out our second Community Raffle! $14,000 was raised for the Drama Program at SCHS & $2500 for Community Association programs.
  • We are hosted our first Community Dance September 10!

  • Our AGM is on October 19, 2022.

Planning & Recreation
  • The SCA sits on the planning committee for a new community centre. The project is moving forward, but very slowly. The County acquired the land adjacent to the Park For All Seasons for future recreation needs.
  • We continue to engage with RVC on the following:
  • Improving communication to residents: we worked with Bragg Creek, Langdon and Elbow Valley to provide recommendations to improve public access to information and to improve Bylaw 317 (notification).
  • Land Use Bylaw: inclusion of the Special Function Business permitted land use
  • Planning Items: Area Structure Plan, Cell Towers, Bingham / Costco, Webber Academy, proposed developments
  • The SCA is in contact with Alberta Culture regarding Alberta Transportation’s acquisition of 2000 acres along the Bow River.
River Access in Springbank
  • River access continues to be a hot topic! An application to close the Road Allowance that provides public access to the Elbow River on RR31 was denied.
  • The SCA submitted the result of our river access survey to RVC to inform planning processes.
Springbank Off-Stream Reservoir
  • The SCA sits on the Land Use Committee for the SR1 project. Stay tuned for results of the planning process.
  • Construction is underway. We have requested information from AT about road closures and air quality monitoring.
