Summer Camps at the library
Registration for our summer day camps is underway. You don’t want to miss out on the fabulous opportunities provided by our very gifted and enthusiastic camp directors.
Renee Boehmer is offering the Kananaskis Kids’ Choir Camp from July 15-19. If your child likes to sing, then this is an opportunity you don’t want to miss. This week-long summer program will include music education, fun games, songs and a performance at the end of the week to perform for parents. Renee Boehmer, the choir director, over 35 years of experience working with children and choirs. The session for children ages 5-9 is from 10 am to 12:15 pm and children ages 10+ will start at 1 pm-3:15 pm. The fee for choir camp is $75 per child. Register at the library.
Kym’s Super Fun Time Art runs from July 22-26 under the direction of Kym Wilkie. Throughout the week, children will explore art in a new way. The camp blends digital mediums, upcycling and outdoor activities while learning from experienced artists and educators passionate about nurturing young talents and fostering creative expression in a safe and supportive environment. Nikolas Cavalheiro Zetouni from Next Gen EduCare is running a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) camp from July 29-Aug 2 for children in Grades 3-5. Each day the children will experience a different type of technology such as Scratch, MakeyMakey, Lego SPIKE, Sphero Minis, Virtual Reality and Snap Circuits. The day is composed of three sessions which comprise of introducing the technology, a guided project and completing a challenge. You must register at www.ngeducare.ca for this camp.
Our Summer Reading Program takes place at the fireplace this year on Wednesdays from 10:30-11:00 am. Starting July 10. Come for 30 minutes of story time with Teagan anad some other fabulous guest story tellers. A take home craft will be provided each week. Register at the library.
Family Movie Nights start again on Thursday July 11 at 6:00 pm. Each week a family friendly movie will be screened. Titles will be advertised on our Facebook page and website. No registration is required and you are welcome to bring snacks.
There are a host of other camps being held around the community as well. The noticeboard between rooms 3 and 4 has all the flyers for these camps.

Those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer are not too far away. We have plenty of lovely summer reads at the library. Come on and in and we will connect you with the latest in your preferred genre or help you find some old favourites. There’s nothing llike sitting on your deck, marvelling at your beautiful garden over the pages of your latest escape with a glass of iced tea in your hand.
