Rocky View Schools (RVS) is receiving an additional $3.08 million in provincial Class Size and Complexity Grant funding for 2026/27, increasing the classroom complexity supports the division will provide beyond the initial $3.6 million approved earlier this year. Announced by government on July 3, the new funding expands the program to include support for Grade 7-12 students and will be used to introduce nine additional Classroom Complexity Teams across elementary, middle and high schools, providing direct, school-based support where they are needed most. On August 10th the Board of Trustee’s held a special board meeting, to finalize the decision of which schools would be receiving a team.
The nine additional complexity teams will be located at:
• Northcott Prairie School
• Ralph McCall School
• Herons Crossing School
• Glenbow Elementary School
• Chestermere Lake Middle School
• Meadowbrook Middle School
• Bow Valley High School
• Bert Church High School
• Chestermere High School
This investment supports the Board’s budget priorities by directing resources to schools, advancing student learning and promoting student and staff well- being. It also connects with RVS’ 2026 – 2030 Strategic Plan, supporting the priorities of equipping students for success and fostering optimal learning environments. Most of the funding will be used to add teachers and educational assistants, while the remaining funds will support specialized behavioural services, professional learning and emerging student needs. These additional supports will help schools and classrooms that are increasingly stretched by student complexity, strengthening RVS’ capacity to better address barriers to learning, support positive classroom environments and enhance access to timely, targeted interventions that support success.
