Campgrounds across our response area are reopening and seasonal ATV use is once again permitted.
All-terrain vehicles are an important part of outdoor life for many Canadians – they’re fun to ride, have practical uses and can get you places you otherwise might not access.
Here’s some tips to keep you safe:
- Load/unload correctly onto a truck bed or trailer.
- Don’t drink or do drugs, and drive. Report others who do.
- Always wear a helmet and other protective clothing (gloves, goggles).
- Obey trail rules.
- Yield to foot and cycling traffic. Stop and turn off engines when approaching horses.
- Yield to descending traffic.
- Handle slopes with care.
- Bring the proper license, registration and other required permits with you.
- Be aware of your surroundings, especially wildlife.
- Use caution when driving at night.
- Keep off paved roads.
- Keep limbs close to you.
- Ride the right-sized vehicle.
- Monitor the weather and pack an emergency kit.
Until next month, stay safe!
