Cannabis Bylaw for MD: After holding a public meeting on October 3, Foothills Council gave 2nd & 3rd readings to pass Bylaw 43/2018 on October 17, 2018. The intent of the Bylaw is to impose additional restrictions on the smoking, vaping and other forms of consumption of cannabis in public places to prevent behaviours and conduct that may have a negative impact on the enjoyment of public places within the M.D. of Foothills. Section 4. of the Bylaw states that ‘A person must not smoke, vape or consume cannabis in any Public Place’. The specified penalty for violation of this Bylaw is issuance of a violation ticket a

Annual General Meeting: The AGM on November 15th at the Hall was attended by approximately 35 individuals. Nominations were presented to fill various executive and board positions that will be vacant at the end of this year. We are also looking for a Hall Rental Director. Elections to fill all positions will be held at the next meeting, Monday, December 10th, 7pm at the Hall. The Board meets once a month to carry out the Board mandate and business, except July and August.

PCA Membership Now Due: Renew your annual membership with the Priddis Community Association for 2018 – 2019 season. Membership is only $25/year for the entire family. We have made it easy for you to pay for your membership online at www.priddisalberta.com You can still mail in a cheque or drop it off at the Priddis Store. A Business Membership is only $50. Everyone should have a Priddis Community Membership when participating in programs at the Hall and using PCA facilities. Thanks in advance.

Priddis Early Learning Program (PELP): Due to unprecedented interest in our program, we wanted to take this time to highlight our registration process with the community. As noted in our Parent Handbook, ‘Any sibling of any child presently registered in the program will be given first opportunity for pre-registration for the next year’. What this means is that current students and their younger siblings will have from January 1st-31st to register for the following year. A completed Personal Record Form and $50 non-refundable registration fee is required to secure a spot. General registration will begin at our open house which will be held in February (date TBD). If there are more children than spaces available, a lottery will be used to determine who will fill the spaces. The remaining students will be placed on a waiting list for that year.

Please be advised that given this year’s full 3 year class and some future expected siblings, we anticipate the 4 year class for 2019-2020 will be at capacity prior to even hosting the open house in February 2019. A waiting list may be required for any newcomers to the program. Please feel free to contact either of us at  PELPpreschool@gmail.com.

Parent & Tot Coffee Morning: A coordinator is still needed for the local Priddis Parent and Tot Coffee mornings. They usually meet once a month. It is a very easy volunteer position for someone looking to get involved in the community. If you, or someone you know may be interested, please email pcayoungfamilies@gmail.com

Priddis Panthers Pond Hockey: This is a fun, non-competitive pond hockey for boys and girls ages 5 – 17, with all levels of experience. Fundraising has involved the group participating in a 50/50 draw at a recent Flames game in Calgary and will also be involved with the 50/50 draw at the Teddy Bear Toss in December. If you would like to volunteer, contact Dave at priddishockey@gmail.com or check Facebook for Priddis Panthers Hockey.

Booking the Hall: To view or book the Hall, contact the Hall Rental Director, Lori Paladeau at PCAhallrentals@gmail.com. Check the website www.priddisalberta.com for availability and updates. We are looking for a new Hall Director to start in January.

Staying Connected: Did you know that along with The Priddis Community Association’s webpage we have a few Local Facebook pages to keep the community connected? These are great resources for seeing what is going on in the community, asking questions, finding out about local businesses and so much more. Be sure to check out the following Facebook groups:

Looking to volunteer in our community and meet new people? Many helping hands are always needed for PCA functions. Anyone interested in volunteering is requested to make their interest known to any Board Member listed on the website www.priddisalberta.com
