Out Of The Rut – Kat Dancer – Oct 2024

Chapter 170

It must be good. On a cool, misty afternoon, I find myself softly singing as I wend my way home, the mellow colours of a moody autumnal day melting into the folds of the faintly fuzzy foothills on this quiet journey. Arriving back to my small sanctuary, the lushness of this summer still overspills my driveway and the house nestles back into its secret space as though hiding in deep grass with the fawns of late spring. In recent days on my travels I’ve spotted a luxuriously mahogany-brown elk doe, a spectacularly antlered moose, a couple of youthful, fuzzy-pronged white- tailed deer in my garden and an incredibly wide-winged hawk swooping across before me to alight a nearby tree.
Long may it continue.

This time of year encompasses so many changes: Folk are back at school, some at school for the first time, exploring the challenges, adventures, pleasures, and pains of life with other growing humans. Many are back in the rhythm of work or regular passtimes briefly suspended for our summer months. Some may be starting new classes, a few valorous individuals are coming to try a little yoga with me in my ‘indoor jungle’. The wildly happy vines, spiderplants and hoyas that fill my studio and living space give the lie to the imminent whiteness of our external vistas toward the end of the year.

Things are rapidly changing around us. I’m sure those more switched on than I are busily taking care of all sorts of tasks around the garden and yard, getting ready for the cold that’s coming fast. Will the first of the white stuff have hit us before these words reach your eyes?

After many, far too many, months of rehabilitation and frustration, I’m reaching out again to share the blessings of Thai Massage and Yoga that I have been gifted with over the years. It’s one of the joys of my life that I discovered Thai Massage back in the early days of this century and have been able to share treatments and teach workshops all over the world during my travels with Fantuzzi. Bringing this all back home by rebuilding local connections with those who would like to experience the Dance of Thai Massage, simply by lying down and taking a deep breath, prepared to let go and enjoy… it’s a lovely gift.

And in the darker months, I will be absent once more. As my parents continue to adventure forth together, their decades on the planet mounting up inexorably, I am determined to spend as much time with them as possible for us. While this too is available to me, I will swim in the waters of familial love.

And the Fantuzzi… most likely will be in this province this month. If I can pull things together, we plan to share a little of his music and magic with you who wish to experience this extravagance of a human in person. If you haven’t yet seen any dates and want to be informed, or better yet, host a small concert, then please drop me a line at the address below. Intimate concerts, celebrations, fun-filled moments with Fantuzzi enrich and engage. His music, stories, life experiences and insights are endless. You may find some interesting videos on youtube.com/fantuzzimusic, check out the “Keep On Keeping On” video created by his youngest son Eli who is a phenomenal film-maker. Most of this video was filmed in 2013 during our visit to India, to the Kumbh Mela in Allahabad and to Varanasi, the oldest living city on the planet. We stayed in the Ashram of a Swami friend of Fantuzzi’s, practising yoga on its rooftop, silhouetted against the backdrop of the temporary city of the Kumbh where 85 million people gathered.
Quite an experience.

Onward into the months of fall we trundle, lust for life unabated. Go for it peeps!
