The Annual Seed Exchange was a great success. Winners of the door prizes were Karen Wight, Lisa Teichroeb and Helen Stobbe. Thanks to a kind donation from West Coast Seeds, seeds will be available at the library all season long for free.
We are now accepting gently used books for our book sale at Longstock in August. Just drop them off at the library or in the book bin outside the library door.
The library would like to welcome our new friends from Eden Valley Day Care who plan to visit us once a week.
New books in the library are: The unlikely Lawman by Steve Kelton, and Homecoming by Kate Morton, and The Prairie Gardener’s go-to for Perennials by Janet Melrose ( 1954 ).
The Guardian has posted a list of ten novels honouring motherhood and Mother’s Day. Three of the them are 1). Beloved by Toni Morrison. It is a classic and was made into a movie starring Oprah Winfrey. 2) The Lost Daughter by Elena Ferrantes and 3) Night Waking by Sarah Moss. The books extoll the pleasures and joys of being a Mother, but also the strain and angst that goes along with it.
