That’s where it all begins after all, according to Gord. Small communities have been hit hard by Covid, and he wanted a way to give back. At this time it also happens to be easier to start performing in small towns than large concert venues. Gord is just happy to get back on the road, it’s a lot like his beginning years as a grass roots performer, touring small towns throughout Canada.
Growing up in Lacombe AB, Gord says he “stumbled” into his very successful career as a country musician. He is now one of the most awarded artists in Canadian country music history.
When asked about the Gord Bamford Foundation, Gord says it’s been a privilege to give back. He says it’s good to contribute to places that give opportunities to kids that may not have otherwise. Having started the foundation almost 15 years ago with a simple golf tournament, they have raised over 4.2 million for charities that focus primarily on children.
Covid has decimated the entertainment business, and the livelihoods of those who facilitated shows.
