This fall has been one of the warmest Septembers I can remember for a long time. We recently enjoyed our fall tradition of walking barefoot in the grass throughout the Ann and Sandy Cross Conservation area and we were struck with the beauty that is ours to enjoy.
We are approaching that special time of year where we have a day set aside to be thankful. Being thankful doesn’t mean that we bask in the bounty of our harvest, selfishly consuming what we produced to keep it for ourselves. I believe that to be truly thankful means that you allow others to be blessed by a combination of time, financial, and material resources that you have. This can be challenging.
I appreciate my wife’s ability in creating a generous home. While I tend to look at the balance sheet, she sees opportunity to bless others and I have learned to release both the resources and time to do so.
As we approach and celebrate Thanksgiving, rather than just express thankfulness on a specific day, can we begin to make it a representation of a lifestyle of thankfulness and generosity towards others?
From my family to yours,
