Welcome to March! – Spring is coming and as COVID-19 restrictions lift we have some great things in store for our communities.
With Gord Bamford coming to Bragg Creek March 11th, Indulgence March 19th, – see Renee Delorme’s article, and the “Beneath the Arch” series resuming March 26th, these are just some of the events happening in our communities this month.
There is a lot happening in our world that is cause for concern. It is easy for me to take the “negative path”. I recently bumped into an old friend at Spirits West here in Bragg. Many know Baruch Laskin’s contagious and genuine positive outlook in life. In condolence of my mother’s recent passing, he bought me a bottle of wine; a gesture of generosity that spoke volumes.
We need to focus on creating positive communities where we support local businesses and participate in the events hosted by the groups and associations around us. Maybe by having a generous and positive attitude like my friend, Baruch, we will see other opportunities open around us. As we strive to make better the world on a local level, that will impact the region, and eventually our nation. I’m not naïve to the issues that are impacting Canada with our national leadership. Unfortunately, most of us are limited to effect change at a national level. That is my role as a community publisher; to facilitate a positive, “good news” community.
I do want to apologize for an editorial blunder last month on my part. The article on our local Olympian, Brooklyn McDougall, wasn’t the final edited version. The proper version is published on our website. I’m not sure how the files got mixed up, but they did and for that I apologize both to her and the BavTav who supported her efforts. As a note, Brooklyn finished 22nd in the 500m discipline. Congratulations for your strong efforts and for representing not only Canada, but your community in Beijing. We are very proud to be part of your story.
From my family to yours,
Lowell Harder
