The weather would communicate otherwise, but summer’s in full swing. How’s it going for you? For our family there’s been a bit of disappointment. The weather hasn’t cooperated with the outdoor activities and projects we’d hoped for. We look for sunny days, and then circumstance rains on our parade. We often complain over rain, and yet we need the rain to produce new life.

We often think of resilience as the ability to bounce back into our previous states of normal. Just like the Big Poplar Sphinx referenced in Laura’s article, resilience is also the ability to transform ourselves and organizations, into something new. Life’s difficult situations, we can shed light on talents and skills we didn’t know existed, that can propel us into something new and life giving.

What has the rain brought to you? Are you complaining over circumstance or learning and applying newfound skills and wisdom birthed through the adversity of life.

I hope you’ll enjoy this summer edition of the paper. There are great articles that will inform you of the ongoings in our communities and instruct us in our journey through life. The Sheep River Library has published their fall programs. They contribute so much to the surrounding area. Take a look and enjoy the read.

From my family to yours,
Lowell Harder
