I recently enjoyed the Bragg Creek Days parade. Walking with my granddaughter on my shoulders who was thoroughly enjoying throwing candy to the crowd was a special memory. Taking time to gather and celebrate what we have is an important part of being community. It could be a small group of neighbours, friends, co-workers, or just your family. Regardless, of the size and scope of your gathering, being together, sharing activity and food (or packaged candy) is important. Summer is an ideal time to do this. These times of sharing enable us to be bonded together by being part of something that is larger than us. As we allow ourselves to be bonded with our “neighbour” we can begin to see that together we are greater than the sum of our individual parts. These positive experiences bring a sense of unity and can envision us for what we can build together.
