This August 30 hardy souls with big hearts will once again arrive in the Rocky Mountains of Alberta and participate in the 7th annual Everest Freedom Challenge to combat the evil of sex trafficking in our world.
Run by an organization called Freedom 8848, it’s a true good news story in a world that desperately needs one right now. Participants young and old climb mountains over 3 days to symbolically MOVE the mountain of injustice that sex trafficking represents. They climb the mountains with strong legs and strong hearts, while moving them with faith and perseverance.
Each participant climbs according to their own ability, and some even choose to climb up to 3 mountains a day, eventually reaching the height of Everest, 8848M, by the end of the last day! They do this to raise awareness of the issue of sex trafficking and funds for some amazing organizations dedicated to fighting it.
The determination and self-sacrifice it takes to complete this gruelling challenge is truly inspiring, with some amazing results. Climbers face blisters, sore muscles, sunburns, and sometimes even snowstorms for something they believe in. As a result the Canadian spirit of generosity and desire to help kicks in and to date climbers have raised over $600,000!
