BC indie-folk band Alma Narrows performs at High River’s The Venue

Anna and Regan Luth of Alma Narrows are no strangers to Alberta, but it’s been many years since the couple has performed in their home province since moving to Vancouver in 2018. The duo has spent the last eight years pursuing music and performing across the province. Described as an alternative folk duo, they create music that explores tender moments of love, loss, and the wonder hidden in everyday life.

Regan hails from St. Albert and Anna spent her formative years in Okotoks, attending the Alberta High School of Fine Arts and taking part in the Main Stage and Vocal Jazz programs. Although they said goodbye to the prairies, the Alberta landscape regularly returns in their lyrics, like their song Where Do We Go, which expresses both the beauty and pain of change: better borrowed autumn air / sentimental longing stare / better winter follow close / forest light / the shadows.

Their timeless sound includes guitar, violin, and intimate harmonies weaving together the spirited twang of Americana with artful melancholy. Alma Narrows draws inspiration from artists like Joni Mitchell, Fleet Foxes, Phoebe Bridgers and Feist. They balance raw lyrical introspection with just enough optimism to keep us hoping for the best in ourselves and each other. The band will perform their compelling, vocally-rich music live at The Venue Summer Series in High River on Saturday August 1st, at 7pm.
