RVC Division 2 news items for your information:

Springbank Area Structure Plan (ASP) – The scheduling for the Public Hearing date for the Springbank ASP is still being determined, but will definitely take place after the summer break in September or early October, 2024. Staff are also working closely internally, and externally, to prepare a circulation to The City of Calgary and other agencies for input. During that time, staff are also getting a third-party review conducted to determine whether the ASP is required to be referred to the Calgary Metropolitan Region Board (CMRB) for approval. Administration will continue to provide regular updates on the Springbank ASP through the County’s website and through e-mail for those registered to receive project updates. Please visit www.rockyview.ca/springbank-area-structure-plan to learn more.

Petro – Can Application – A reminder that a special public hearing for this application has been tentatively scheduled for September 25th ,2024. Notification letters of the public hearing will be sent out approximately 5-weeks in advance of the public hearing. A staff report will be available approximately one week prior to the Public Hearing. The Master Site Development Plan (MSDP) will be updated online prior to the Public Hearing. Agriculture Master Plan – the public engagement for Rocky View County’s Agriculture Master Plan has officially launched. You can access the platform here: https://engage.rockyview.ca/agriculture-master-plan. This survey and future community engagement actively involve local farmers, agri-businesses, and residents to ensure the revised Agriculture Master Plan accurately reflects the needs and priorities of our agricultural community, setting goals for future growth and innovation. Administration will organize focused engagement sessions for agricultural producers, societies, and clubs to gather their input. The insights gathered during this phase will be used to develop a preliminary Agriculture Master Plan. This plan will then be shared for additional public input in the fall before being presented to Council in early 2025. Below is the timeline for these events.

Phase 1 Public Engagement:
June/July 2024: Phase 1 of public engagement will include an online survey, collaborative workshop, and one-on-one conversations with the project team.

Phase 1 Targeted Engagement:
June 24 & July 4: Three focus group workshops will be held with Ag producers, Ag societies & clubs, and environmental groups.

Phase 2 Public Engagement:
November 2024: A draft Agriculture Master Plan will be shared with engagement participants and the public for additional comments and review.

Engagement Summary Report:
January 2025: A final What We Heard report will be shared to summarize and communicate all feedback gathered throughout the engagement process.

Final Agriculture Master Plan:
March 2025: A final Agriculture Master Plan will be shared with the public.

Weed Inspections – Every year, Rocky View County hires seasonal staff to help in the battle against invasive weed species. Weed inspectors will be throughout the County this summer inspecting both private and public property to help stop the spread of regulated weeds listed as noxious and prohibited noxious on the Weed Control Act of Alberta. To learn more, visit: www.rockyview.ca/agricultural-news/article/2379/here-come-the-weed-inspectors

There are no regularly scheduled Council meetings for August, therefore my next newsletter will be in September.

Have a great summer!
