Barb Castell – Division 3
Snowfall Rescue
The uninvited snowfall on April 30 caused a lot of havoc in Division 3 and other areas of Foothills County. The through roads were ploughed first, as they have the most traffic. Then the next roads with a lesser amount of traffic, and the dead-end roads last.
I received a call from Cheryl and James from Forge & Farm (formerly Forage and Farm), desperate to go and pick up 50 little chicks that had been delivered to our Millarville General Store. While James could pick them up, he would not be able to get up their dead-end road to get home. Too much snow.
I phoned Foothills County Deputy Director Mike Gallant and he said: “I’ll have someone there within the hour”. The road was ploughed, the chicks were picked up, and arrived home safely.
Now and then, there needs to be an exception to the rule. Thank you to Mike and his Foothills County Public Works team for saving 50 little lives!

Millarville Community Library
Millarville Community Library is accepting donations of garden seeds both flowers and veggies to start a seed library. You can bring them into the library Monday – Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or Wednesdays 9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Marigold Library System
I attended the AGM and the regular meeting at the Marigold Library Services building in April. On the tour of the new building, I watched a book get set on a machine and move along an assembly line and get dropped in the box that goes to our own Millarville Community Library! Someone had special ordered it. The Marigold van will take that box of books right to Millarville Community Library.
Did you know you can order a book that our Library may not have in its collection?
Drop in and find out. If the system has it, you can have it delivered to Millarville Community Library.

Our agriculturally themed playground is much loved by children and adults alike. Many stories have been shared about delighted children and their families enjoying our playground so much that the children don’t want to leave! It is a credit to all the volunteers who worked to make it a reality and to everyone who donated funds so far.
For $200 a brick, you not only give a long- lasting and meaningful gift, but also help MRAS continue to build our playground legacy. Please consider buying a brick and having your choice of a name or names engraved on our donor wall as your individual or family legacy.
The purchase forms are on the MRAS website: www.millarvilleracetrack.com/MRAS-Name-aBrick-Donation
