June is a busy month for everyone. I hope you can make time for all the fun things happening around Foothills County.
Landfill and Resource and Recovery Centre (LLRC)
Landfill hours –Extended Hours will return again this year from May 1 to Oct 5, 2023.
Extended hours help reduce lineups at the landfill on Saturdays during our busiest months.
From May 1 – October 5, 2023, the landfill will be open Monday to Thursday 8:30 AM – 6:30 PM.
From 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM the landfill is closed to large commercial loads, so, the extended hours are only for household garbage and landscaping loads going to the Throw & Go or Bin Area. Friday and Saturday, the landfill runs normal hours of 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM during this period.
Regular hours of operation at Foothills County transfer stations:
Priddis Transfer Station
SE-29- 22-3- W5M (264 St. W. & 178 Ave) Open Tuesday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Diamond Valley Transfer Station
SE-17- 20-2- W5M (168 St. W & 402 Ave) west of Black Diamond
April 15 – Nov 15: Open Monday-Tuesday, Friday-Saturday from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. During this period, branches, grass clippings, and leaves will also be accepted at the Diamond Valley Transfer Station
*Bags can be purchased at the Priddis transfer station for $2 per bag. Bags for use at the transfer stations are also available at Millarville General Store, Hi Ho and the Esso in Diamond Valley. Sale prices of bags at retailers is at the discretion of the retailers and may be more than $2 per bag. Please note that these bags are only accepted at the Foothills County transfer stations in Priddis and Diamond Valley, if they are brought to the landfill, standard charges will still apply.

Priddis & Millarville Fair Book
The Fair book is ready! You can start planning your entries. The Fair Book can be found around the community, online, or right at the MRAS office. Volunteers will take the books to places like the Millarville Store, Priddis Store, various shops, and venues in Millarville, Priddis, Diamond Valley, Okotoks, High River, Longview, etc.

Leighton Art Centre’s 36th Annual Clothesline Art Sale

Inside the Leightons’ heritage home, you’ll discover a wide selection of unframed art from our Clothesline Online Art Sale, and a great selection of art and fine craft throughout the gallery and shop. Bring the whole family (except Fido) and show your support for our local artists. Explore our 80-acre property, choose your favorite view, make some art en plein air and enjoy one of the best picnic spots in Alberta!

Millarville “Run to the Farmers’ Market” Half Marathon/Millarville Farmers’ Market
On Saturday, June 17 the Farmers’ Market opens at 9 a.m. and goes until 2 p.m. at the Millarville Racetrack
Entry is by donation. That same day you could witness the runners come into the market from the Half Marathon race.
On that same day, there is the long- awaited Grand Opening of the Millarville Agriculturally Themed Playground. The exact time was not available at the time of this Newsletter.
