Bragg Creek/Redwood Meadows

Bragg Creek Centre – Oct 2022

One of the best parts about fall is the continuous sunny weather. The parks and landscapes are breathtaking around Bragg Creek when the leaves begin to change colour and fall from trees. Fall brings us closer to the BCCA’s Annual General Meeting. Please join us on Tuesday, October 25 at 7:00 pm. We are looking for board directors who are interested in having a positive impact on the community. Interested individuals may contact president@braggcreekca.com for consideration by the nominating committee, prior to the AGM.

We heard you Bragg Creek! Thanks to the fundraising efforts of the Bragg Creek Rink Committee and the generosity of BCCA Board Member, Kirsten Norris, we were able to install two basketball hoops for public use in our outdoor rink. Within hours of installation, we were pleased to see it being utilized by members of the community. This initiative stemmed from our recent community survey, which indicated a need for more drop-in recreational opportunities.

Are you curious about how felt is made from wool fibre? Do you like hats? Join Bragg Creek resident & artisan, Fay Hodson, as she walks you through the following steps:

* Design a basic hat shape for felting
* Lay out wool fibre
* Turn the fibre into a felt hat

Suitable for beginners and those with some felting experience! Adults only. October 22 from 9:30 am – 4:30 pm. Maximum registrations: 12. Cost: $85 include kit fee. Call the office to register at 403-949-4277.

The BCCA Rink Committee is gearing up for the winter season with a fun night of games at The Powderhorn Saloon on Friday, October 14 @ 7:00 pm. Bingo, trivia, a silent auction and more! You can support by making a donation to play, or bidding on one of the fabulous packages in the silent auction. This is the kickoff to raising funds for resurfacing of the rink and general maintenance. If you have an item you would like to donate, please email Brian at braggcreekrink@gmail.com

We are grateful for the many trades who continuously support the Centre. This month we would like to express our gratitude to Matt Weiers of Country Life Repairs for his professionalism and knowledge in solving the mechanical puzzle of our pump system!

Lastly, we say farewell to Shawntel and John Dickinson. Shawntel has worn many hats at the Bragg Creek Centre. She has been an employee, board member, BCCA Rink Committee volunteer extraordinaire, friend, neighbour, mentor and so much more. John has also spent many hours
at the Centre in many capacities. We wish them all the best as the begin their journey across the Alberta border into BC. Goodbyes are not forever, goodbyes are not the end, they simply mean we’ll miss you until we meet again!
