BCCA
Music sets the stage, tells all tales, and transcends across nature in all aspects. Be it professional instrumentations, the resonance of voices, or the rhythm of percussion, music reaches into our souls and has the power to uplift and energize. It is at the core of humanity and is the expression of single individuals, blossoming out into groups, cultures, and generations.
Winter festivities would not be the same without songs and music that unite and bind. The BCCA is proud to host two memorable winter events that foster culture, share tradition, and bring joy.
- “The Spirit of Christmas” event ran December 1st to 3rd and attracted over 5000 residents and visitors to the community. They rode ponies at the Trading Post, created 153 Gingerbread houses at the Bakery and Cafe, sang Christmas carols with Swamp Donkey and decorated 220 cookies at Mabel and Marie’s Bakery. The Snowbirds Lodge saw 450 guests who enjoyed treats, crafts and face painting, all the while sharing huge smiles. Most of all our guests built community, created memories and filled their spirit with joy, peace and goodwill.
- “Winter in the Woods” is something to look forward to. Join us on Saturday, January 27th for an indoor and outdoor event that will feed your spirit and remind you why you live and play here. Check the website for all the info and be sure to purchase your puck for the famous “Chuck a Puck” event. It doesn’t any better than this for old fashioned winter wonderland fun.
Our Volunteers are music to our ears! Nothing happens without them, and they are key to the success for events like these. A standing ovation to you! Thank you for your hard work and dedication. You are at the center of our stage and every ear hangs on you.
For regular programming notes, we are ramping back up first thing in January with:
- Pickleball – resumes on Tues, Jan 2;
- Artzy Afternoons – resumes Thurs, Jan 4;
- Rumble & Roar – resumes Thurs, Jan 4;
- MultiSport Youth – starts Fri, Jan 12;
- Adult Touch Rugby – starts Fri, Jan 12.
Something new to strum about this spring is our upcoming Casino March 9 and 10th, 2024! We are fortunate to have this opportunity to raise much needed funds to enable us to maintain and improve our facilities. This year, one of our plans is to resurface the rink to enable it to be a more functional, year round facility. Again, we are reliant on our volunteers to bring these plans to reality. Like a band needs a percussionist, we cannot perform without our volunteers. Please consider a shift or two that will pay off tenfold in our community. Reach out now or later, but please do get in touch and sign up with Kim, our General Manager (403 949 4277).
A new year brings new hope, new growth and new beginnings. The music you listen to impacts you, your moods and your outlook. Feed yourself the music that speaks to you and pulls you where you want to be.
We are right here with you. Play on… and Happy New Year!
