I hope everyone had a wonderful summer full of exactly what you’d hoped it would be. The 2026-2027 school year has officially begun, and students and staff alike are already working hard. To begin the school year, the Board and Superintendent met on September 3rd to prepare for the busy month ahead. It is a wonderful time of the year full of energy and anticipation.

Rocky View Schools projected enrolment of 29,918 students for the 2026/27 school year. As of the start of the school year, actual enrolment stands at 29,687 students.

Our new strategic plan for 2026-2030 has officially been rolled out, with our top 3 priorities being straight from the feedback of community and staff. The plan can be found directly on the RVS website, and I encourage you to take a look if you would like to get an idea of the direction in which the division is being guided in.

Several modular classroom projects are progressing across the division. Two projects have received occupancy approval, four remain on track for completion between September and November 2026, and one project has been deferred to summer 2027. Included in the list is Springbank middle with construction for a modular with 4 more classrooms ongoing, due to be ready for occupancy in September.

3 of RVS’s upcoming schools will be having groundbreaking ceremonies in the next 30 days. Rivercrest in Cochrane will be held sept 23rd, Bayview in airdrie Oct 7th, Dawsons landing in Chestermere Oct 7th.

South Windsong Airdrie is progressing as planned with construction completion anticipated in April 2027. Bow Valley High’s expansion is on schedule for completion on October 1st, a long-awaited project for the students
and staff in Cochrane.

And finally, our 3 future capital projects which continue to advance through planning and design phases; Lanark K-9 School (Airdrie), Chelsea High School (Chestermere), Horsecreek High School (Cochrane) are all expected to open after 2030. However, funding timelines remain a key consideration.
