As the Society celebrates its 50th anniversary, there’s never been a better time to discover the vibrant world of fibre arts and join in the festivities.

About the Sheep Creek Weavers Society

The Sheep Creek Weavers Society was founded in 1975 and has grown from a small group of passionate artisans into a cornerstone of Alberta’s fibre arts community. With a mission to preserve, promote, and advance the fibre arts, the Society welcomes everyone—from seasoned fibre artists to curious newcomers.

Celebrating 50 Years: The 2026 Super-Event

This year’s Fleece to Shawl competition will be especially momentous, marking the Society’s 50th anniversary. Plans are underway for a “super-event” that will bring together past champions, host expanded demonstrations and feature special displays honouring five decades of weaving excellence.

You will witness a good-natured rivalry between the Sheek Creek Weavers, Edmonton Weavers, Heritage Weavers (Calgary) and the Crocus Guild (High River and Okotoks). Awards will be given for: Speed, Spinning Consistency, Weaving Finesse, Creativity and Team Spirit.

Join the Sheep Creek Weavers and Friends at the Priddis Millarville Fair for the 50th anniversary Fleece to Shawl competition and become part of a tradition that celebrates and preserves Alberta’s rich textile heritage for generations to come.
