Our second annual Lego Competition takes place on Saturday, February 7. This year’s theme is Myths and Monsters. Builders are invited to recreate scenes inspired by ancient myths, folklore, and legendary tales or design their own original creatures! From 11-3:30, view the entries plus displays of custom builds by members of the Southern Alberta LEGO User Group (SALUG), a LEGO Book Display, colouring and activity pages and LEGO Creationary and Board Games. At 3:30 a talk will be given by SALUG, winners will be announced and door prizes will be drawn. If you plan to enter, remember that your entry must be an original creation, must be able to be moved without falling apart by a library staff member, and must not extend past a base dimension of 10”x10” (25cm x 25cm). The competition is open to those ages 6-17 years. All entries must be dropped off at the library on Friday, February 6 from 10 am to 7 pm. Late entries will not be accepted on Saturday, February 7. A competition form (available on the library) needs to accompany your entry.
We invite you to join us on Sunday, February 22 at 2:00 for Vested Interests, an entertaining, informative and a little bit quirky fashion show of garments with original graphics telling stories of climate change. This show is a bright, colourful, often humorous way of telling stories of climate change without using statistics. Sign-up is strongly encouraged, but drop- ins are welcome. Library doors will open at 1:30. Of course, you cannot have a fashion show without fashion models! So, we are looking for six brave souls to step up to the (fashion) plate and strut their stuff on the runway. All shapes and sizes are welcome. If you have ever wanted to be a model, this is your chance to cross that item off your bucket list. Call the library at 403-933- 3278 if you are interested.
