Bragg Creek Centre – Jan 2026

BRAGG CREEK COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION

If there is one word to describe the energy flowing through the BCCA right now, it is momentum. As the BCCA welcomes 2026, we aren’t just looking back on a year of change—we are celebrating a year of revitalization. With a new 15-person volunteer Board of Directors and new staff members, we are adding diverse skills, fresh ideas, and many hands to our existing dynamic team of staff and volunteers. Our hearts are filled with gratitude and hope as we embark on the next chapter of the BCCA’s story.

On gratitude…We have witnessed an incredible surge in support that has truly humbled us. From record-breaking volunteer participation, to the climb in program attendance – saying “thank you” to the Bragg Creek Community feels insufficient for what we have experienced lately.

To our dedicated staff at the Community Centre, thank you for pouring your expertise and passion into every single day: you are the engine that keeps this machine running. To our volunteers who have shown up in droves, donating your time, energy, and talents through sweat, rain, and frozen toes: you are the fuel that energizes this community. To our local organization and business partners: seeing you step up this year has been inspiring. Your contributions are foundational in providing the resources and encouragement needed to bring our ideas to life.

On hope…. At a time where everything moves at lightning speed, we expect instant gratification and results. There’s a quote I think of often – the African proverb, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” It emphasizes that true distance and lasting success come from collaboration, shared burdens, and collective strength. It highlights that unity, not just speed, defines meaningful progress and achieving big goals. This grounds me, guides me, and energizes me to continue building stronger bonds within our community, to grow and deepen our partnerships with local organizations and businesses, and to not be afraid to dream big.

Bragg Creek’s Spirit of Christmas Festival Recap To everyone involved in our annual Spirit of Christmas festival, WOW! The turnout was spectacular, with 3,200 people coming out to enjoy our winter wonderland, and over 200 locals involved in pulling it off – that is a LOT of buy-in from a little Hamlet!! To the local businesses who went above and beyond to create magic for the kids, and to the sponsors who funded the festivities—you made the season bright. To the volunteers who planned, laughed, and froze with us to pull this event together, we are so grateful for your efforts. It truly takes a Hamlet to pull off something this memorable.

Winter in the Woods is back on Saturday, January 31st. Join us as we celebrate all things snowy and spectacular at our one-day winter festival. This family event is as unique as the Creek with events like human curling and chuck-a-puck combined with family skating, a skills competition, and junior & senior classic hockey games. If the thought of on-ice activities sends shivers down your spine then come out to enjoy the hot chocolate, crackling bonfires, winter carnival games and relay races. Oh, and don’t forget – your favourite beverages and hockey songs in our Parking Lot Pub! Check the website or Facebook for full details and be sure to purchase your chuck-a-puck from Bragg Creek businesses before they sell out! All proceeds support our beloved outdoor rink (the ODR)! Volunteers, we have seen you step up before, and we need you again! Please watch Braggcreekca.com for shifts and “SignUp.”

Programming Returns January 5th! Check out the website for the full program list.

Looking Forward… As we step into 2026, we are doing so with momentum, gratitude, and a renewed sense of hope. In a world where division seems to be the norm, we need community now, more than ever. And we are focused on building a stronger, more vibrant community here for everyone. One event, one program, one conversation at a time.
