Winter has finally arrived and our communities are beginning to have that magical Christmas vibe. For our family, we’re looking forward to having all of our adult children coming home. There will be 11 children, 5 spouses, 5 grandchildren, one great grandfather, a dog, and a nephew! We’re looking forward to the time, albeit it will be chaotic.
I’m really looking forward to taking my British son-in-law out to find and cut down his first REAL Christmas Tree. For many people, finding the “perfect” gift, entertaining and meal preparation, an over full schedule, and the unresolved relational challenges can bring increased pressure. Before hurling ourselves into the intense Christmas fray, ask “When all is said and done, what will define my Christmas season as a positive lasting memory?”
I would argue that investment into relationship is what’s most important. Then allow the allocation of your resources and creativity to go towards that.
