SUMMARY:4-H Public Speaking
DESCRIPTION:Intermediate and Senior members from the Calgary 4-H region are getting together at Olds College for the annual Regional Public Speaking event. Members from Wheatland\, Rockyview\, Kneehill\, Foothills\, and Mountainview districts will meet to compete with amazing\, well researched speeches and presentations for a regional speaking title. \nWe welcome all to come to the event to support our future leaders at the Werklund Agriculture and Technology centre in Olds College on March 21. Speeches will start at 10am\, and presentations will start at 1:30pm. \nThe communications event is a mandatory part of 4-H and encourages all members to step out of their comfort zones and develop their public speaking capabilities. Many 4-H alumni find that the communications event has positively affected their lives in both personal and professional settings\, along with this\, members also tend to excel in school projects that require a public speaking portion. \nCompetitors had to advance through three different levels to get to regionals\, winning a first or second place to advance. The multiple levels in 4-H are as follows: Club\, Areas\, districts\, Regionals and provincials. Club level is the only required level and the first three welcome all members. Only intermediate and senior members are allowed to move onto Regionals and only seniors may advance to provincials. \nBring your head\, heart\, heath\, and hands on March 21 at the Werklund Agriculture and Technology Centre in Olds to support your local 4-H community and future world leaders. Location: Werklund Agriculture and Technology Centre\, Olds College. \n4-H speeches- 10:00AM\n4-H Presentations- 1:30PM

SUMMARY:Diamond Valley Chamber: Tag Team Tourism
DESCRIPTION:Among businesses along the Cowboy Trail from Priddis to Longview\, there is a lot of ‘passing along’ of visitors from one business to another. It could be called “Tag Team Tourism.” \nTag Team Tourism: – a conversation between business owners to clarify your message and share ideas to coordinate efforts. \nThis happens every day at every business during the ‘tourist season’? Something like this…. \nGuests at Todd & Jaxy’s River Retreat Kananaskis ask about local attractions\, places to eat\, where to have their vehicle repaired…what would you like them to be saying about your business? \nTim at the historic Millarville General Store and Miss Marple’s café pass people along to Anchor D Guiding & Outfitting\, or the award-winning Eau Claire Distillery\, or Spirit Hills Winery; \nTarek at Blue Rock Gallery pass tourists along to The Westwood or Mike at The Stop\, or Danielle at Enlightened Herb\, or Krista at Sweet Briar Goods\, or the Black Diamond Hotel; \n…who recommend that people would really enjoy a stop at the Twin Cities Saloon – Hotel and Restaurant\, or the Water’s Edge Pub & Café in Priddis. \nMany fans of Heartland and Amber Marshall\, from far and wide\, come to see Marshall’s Country Store. \nThey often ask about other Western-style experiences. \nBohemia has customers from many countries in the world. Some of these come and visit the area. \nWhat would you like Maureen and her team to be saying about your business? \nPeople stop in at Rona\, or Hard Knox Brewery\, and often ask about things to do in the area. Or who could repair their RV? Or where to get a haircut? Or who are Ruby and Ross? Or who to call if they were interested to buy property in the area. \nThese conversations happen all the time! \nYou can’t buy advertising like this\, and nothing is more effective. \nIf other business owners in the area haven’t met you\, you won’t be mentioned. \nAffirming one another’s businesses builds local pride\, optimism and even resilience. \nMost local business owners that we talk to bring up this issue – cooperating with one another to help visitors have a great experience while they are here. A little coordination and communication would step things up a lot! \nBring your Ideas – what you wish would be happening in the region on this issue; \nBring Your Message – we’ll pull your business name out of a hat\, and you’ll have up to 2 minutes to tell us all what you would like us to be saying about your business. \nTime and Place:\nTuesday\, April 14\, 2026 at 6:45pm.\nHard Knox Brewery building \nHosted by the Diamond Valley Chamber of Commerce \nCome on out…and be the talk of the town.
